In the medieval village of Castiglione d\u2019Orcia<\/strong>, history and culture intertwine among fortifications, art spaces, and timeless landscapes.<\/p>\n

From the highest point of the village, the imposing Tower of Tentennano<\/strong> can be seen, reachable via a charming footpath of about 300 metres. Standing over 20 metres high and set atop a limestone cliff, the tower is documented as early as 853 as a possession of the Abbey of Monte Amiata and played a key strategic role over the centuries thanks to its dominant position along the Via Francigena.<\/p>\n

In the heart of the village lies the Rocca Aldobrandesca<\/strong>, an ancient fortress of early medieval origin that for centuries represented the political and military centre of the area. Expanded and modified several times, the fortress still retains its austere and commanding presence, bearing witness to the defensive history of Castiglione d\u2019Orcia and its conflicts between the great Sienese families.<\/p>\n

Just a short walk away, the San Giovanni Art Hall<\/strong>, housed within the former church of the same name, is now an exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art and cultural events. This venue, where historical memory meets creativity, hosts temporary exhibitions, installations and initiatives that engage with the landscape and identity of the territory, offering an authentic cultural experience in the heart of the Val d\u2019Orcia.<\/p>\n
